Classic stories by Yoshi and Blotling

And finally an update on the main page! I am so sorry for my absence - and I especially apologize to Blotling, who finished second part of "The Salvation of the Duck Avenger" (now retitled "The Duck Avenger Strikes Back") a frickin' MONTH ago, but I've somehow overlooked it in the comics. And then real life and finals happened, and I've generally been a bit of a klutz.

In the meantime, Yoshi has finished another old-school Duck Avenger adventure: "The Duck Avenger versus The Contaminator". So if you haven't been checking the comments, here's some sweet new stuff for ya:

Big thanks to the translators. And again, I apologize profusely.

Oh. And hey. Merry Christmas!

  1. Yeah, speaking of Christmas...

I translated this one issue for the occasion. You know, that one PKNA Christmas issue which was translated by someone else several years ago. Well, here's my version.

    PKNA#13 - The Darkest Night:

And there's also that other issue that was done all those years ago. So I went ahead and did that one too.

Featuring the first appearance of Duckmall. Unfortunately, no Starcorp guys around...

    PKNA#14 - Carpe Diem:

Not exactly Christmas yet, but I figure if I make this comment a few days earlier, Birch might notice in time to make a post about it when Christmas comes around.

    1. Um... fuck. Reupload time.

I didn't add that "axepting" joke and I of course don't notice until after I've given you links and shit.

      I suck.

  2. Oooohhhh... I've wanted to see those get a new, decent translation (I don't mean that as an insult to the original translators who probably did as good as they could). Awesome as always, you crazy Norwegian bastard! ;)

And no need to apologize Birch, I'm sure there are things in life that can be more important to take care of :)
Nice to see an update however! (Mutters something barely hearable about pesky Danes)

  3. Cool! Thanks for the updates guys!

But... hmmm I thought I came here to write something else...

Oh yeah! The first two issues of Pikappa (PK3 :P) are available on comiXology since yesterday: http://www.comixology.com/Superduck/comics-series/9744

    Good news for non-Apple-fanboys!

  4. See, Banker, now I'm torn between proving my efficiency by making a new update straight away, or waiting till Christmas so that Yoshi and Blotling can enjoy a bit more well-deserved time on the top of the front page.

Oh well, I'll make a post later today while making sure that nobody misses THIS update somehow. But first let me figure out this Comixology-thing, so that I know what to report.

First off: Thanks for the info, anonymous dude! What's strange though is that when I follow that link, it just redirects me to the 'Browse comics' section, and I can't find Superduck when I search for it. Does the link work for anyone else?

It's probably a regional thing, so it'd be good to know which countries it DOES work in. (Denmark would seem to be ruled out.) All info is much appreciated.

    2. That's strange. I'm from Europe too and the page loads normally: http://i.imgur.com/tLe7V.png?1

Maybe the following links load for you:
      http://www.comixology.com/Disney/comics-publisher/122-0

      http://www.comixology.com/Disney-Debut/comics-collection/873

      http://www.comixology.com/search?search=Superduck

The last search shows me the two issues of Superduck that are available.

    4. It is definitely a geographical location lockout. Real shame. Would be interesting to see where the anonymous poster comes from though. We Scandinavians probably have to hope all license problems are sorted out anytime soon.

I planned to post about the news though. It also contains some DoubleDuck and Massimo De Vita's "Sword of Ice" ("La spada di ghiaccio"), the latter which I had planned to possibly translate. Guess I'll take that off my list then.

      Greece.

I can't understand why Scandinavian countries are blocked, however. From what I know, Disney comics up there appeal to more people in comparison with other places, I believe this service would have been popular...

    6. It's all about licensing. The Greek Disney publisher most likely don't hold the license to publish digitally whereas the Scandinavian publisher (Egmont) likely have a license that covers digital publishing. So Egmont need to be on board with it too. It isn't too unlikely that we should get it too however, as there is a Scandinavian version of the iPad app which also has the weekly Donald Duck comic book in it.

I don't know any more specific details however, I can merely speculate.

  5. PK has two near-identical villains who are Inquinator and Perfidus. Which one is the one here translated as "The Contaminator"? In the case of Inquinator, the name "Inquinator" was kept in english translations (like Ultraheroes). Of course, here in Spanish-speaking countries he became "Polucionador" so the character isn't away from some dub name changes.

  6. yes, it's inquinator. I didn't konw he wasn't translated fro his English release. there should be no other English releases besides Ultraheroes that feature him though, because to my knowledge there are only two stories that feature him (plus Ultraheroes).

  7. I think there is a missing page on Duck Avenger vs the contaminator, specifically page 19

  8. Hey, I have a small collection of old..."Duck avenger"? We call him Phantom Duck in greece. Anyway, i have a small collection of like a sixty or seventy issues or so from the VS contaminator phase of Phantom. Is there anyway i can help you guys with sharing these comics with the world? (Or can you atleast tell me where i can find more of them online?)

    1. If you can scan these issues (of Αλμανάκο I guess), maybe someone will find them interesting to translate in english.
