PK2 #16 - Soldier of Fortune

 The Quadrilogy - Episode Two

(I'm running out of new ways to sing Banker's praises here.)

  1. This one feels more like a PKNA story than a PK² story. The Ducklairs barely make an appearance here.

  2. Angus Fangus stopping his attacks on the Duck Avenger is one thing. But now he's defending him too?

I don't know you anymore, man...

  3. Maybe he wouldn't have done it if he didn't see a chance of making Ducklair the culprit ^^? But yeah, it really seems a bit strange.

  4. ...

This is what they decide to interrupt the climax with? Okay, okay, I'll admit I think Neopard is hilarious, but really. Don't do that.

    1. Yeah, this really should have been before "The True Enemy" and then they could have called the last three issues... fuck I don't know, the Trinity?

It's got absolutely nothing to do with the other three issues. It's not like those weapons Donald got come into play in the next two.

    2. So it's basically a completely pointless issue. Ugh. So far, PK2's story arch has felt a lot more focused than PK's did, and then this happens. *shakes head*

  5. By the way I could very well have done without another issue with Neopard :/. I hope the final two issues are a worthy ending.

  6. Oo? That guy. I never thought I'd see him again, that's quite a surprise character to bring back at this point.

  7. Meh, was a decent goofball issue, but yeah, totally unnecessary for this "Quadrilogy" thing. Shoulda gone with the "Ducklair Triology" (to distinguish it from the Xadhoom Triology)

  8. It's like "Yay, PK finally goes to space again... what a meh story..."

  9. Well, not much to talk about regarding this issue, so I'm gonna bring up feet again!

Like... they decided to cybernetically turn Stevros into a tiger, but they let him keep the duck feet. Guess that was the 20% organic part...

    1. You'd think that would fuck with his balance, since he's running around like a tiger. Duck feet are not meant for climbing.

Speaking of feet, shoes. Duck feet are big, and the shoes are normal shaped. It looks so painful.

      Delete
    2. That really varies. The shoes are sometimes appropriately shaped for duck feet.

    3. I always think they look narrower than the feet. :/ The Avenger's shoes are the only ones that usually looks okay to me.

  10. Read it. That was a fun read, but yeah, obviously out of place in the middle of the "quadrilogy".

  11. I have translated the first part of the Duck Avenger versus Contaminator story, downloadable here:

    http://www.speedshare.org/download.php?id=6ADAA67D1

It's a classic Duck Avenger story, German readers can read the German official translation of this gem in LTB 164. I'd recommend anyone who can get an official translation in their country (that's Germany, Austria ans Swiss at the very least) to read that instead of my amateur English translation.

The second part will follow as soon as possible, but it may take a while because if I don't get it done during the coming seven days I'll be unable to proceed on it for an aditional week. Feedback and suggestions are always appreciated :).

    1. Okay, here's some feedback. This translation is gay.

I kid, this is quite fine. I'm not one to talk when it comes to errors, so I won't. Lettering could use some work, though. Better placement (centering it) and better font ( Anime Ace BB). Anyways, a decent read.

    2. Hey there,

I really liked your translation, but I think you forgot to include page 19... :)

And, by the way, perfect story! De Vita at his best!

  12. This issue was a huge fucking disappointment! I mean...

Inducks and Comicvine lied to me. They told me Tempest Gale was in this issue.

I've never been so let down in my entire life.

  13. Really liked that one, now I'm pumped to read the great finale. I just hope that Ducklair's strange behaviour towards DA and One will be explained.

  14. I tried the Disney Comix App on my sisters iPod and when you set the language to "English (United States)" the PK-Pikappa issues can be purchased.
    The prices were in Euro.
I noticed that they only offer 20 Issues. From what I've read it should be 32.

    1. And there you go, people.

Now you just need to buy a fucking iPod.

  15. Thank you again, Banker, for these two. At least Alyonesse was cute. As a fan of the Catillac cats in old ages, I like they drawing cats, and dislike the overuse of these not specified human-dogs hybrids Disney uses so much.

  16. Lack of Tempest aside, yeah, that was pretty awesome! ED's daughters go from "getting-revenge-on-dad-who-stole-our-childhood" (which was a nice "no one's really evil) to outright world conquering megalomaniacs (ok, a bit of an exaggeration, maybe) wasn't too bad. A bit sudden perhaps, but still nice. And, as Yoshi mentioned, we still don't know that much about Everett's reasons for his behavior earlier in this series. I've come to understand him turning One off was because he didn't know if he could trust him if things between ED and DA wan't too far south, but the mind-reading network and other suspicious stuff like that? As a tool for looking for Korinna perhaps?

Anyways, on to the last one!

Unless Banker, being the magnificent douche we've all come to know him as decides to pull the plug and stop translating, of course :P

    1. I totally agree on that, their sudden goal change was a bit of an unbelievable stretch. And Juniper seemed to imply that they wanted to rule over a planet ever since they were small, so I guess that's why they weren't like "what the fuck did you just say" when their mother explained what she was going to do to them.

But hey, judging by that burning shit down flashback, I guess these girls were always fucked up...

I won' comment on anything regarding Everett's motives as I now know too much,

    2. Wait a minute, I don't totally agree. What the hell is wrong with me?

    3. Also, we probably have to take into consideration that they never really got time to grow up properly, so mentally they're probably a good bit younger than they look. Like, quite intelligent kids who were raised as new rulers with a fat grudge against their dad. Just speculating, of course...

    4. Hey, I thought it'd be cool to be evil when I was a kid too...

      Delete
    5. And I thought it'd be cool to be rich. Scrooge was one of my idols when I was a kid (along with PK, of course). XD Now I don't really care about money, as long as I have enough to get along relatively comfortably, and apart from Don Rosa's interpretation, I no longer really even like the character.

  17. Well, here we are. Isn't this just the most satisfying ending ever? Doesn't it totally answer all your questions? Surely you're not telling me that it made you say "no, continue, don't reboot, please"?

    Uh huh...

    3. If that had been a season ending, rather than the entire series... I'd say it was awesome. As it is, it's more a hair pulling frustration thing.

Everett, honey. If that's how you looked with long hair, why the god awful haircut?

And to make the sudden change in motivation make sense, from now on I'm going to pretend Korinna and Juniper had a long talk regarding the Queen thing, while the Avenger was of in space with Neopard, and reached the conclusion it was another thing Everett took from them.

    4. Whatever to make that issue have purpose in the Quadrilogy...

Well, there's this lion guy in the last issue who looks like he might possibly be from Armadha. Does that have anything to do with anything? Probably not...

    5. Corona doesn't seem like the kind of planet to welcome outsiders. Might mess up their system.

  18. Aww...
You know this issue was thrown in hastily in the 'Quadrilogy' just because they were running out of time.
More of a PKNA issue than a PK2 issue, but a great number nonetheless.Plutz.
Heh. You didn't translated the Sergeant dialogue- it is simply a northern dialect of Italian, modified in writing to appear 'alien'. Wonder if doing that was even possible in english without too much work...

This blog has any intention to translate the heretical\impious\debased\idiotic\retarded\offensive 'thing' that was the third series?

    1. Um, yeah... I was not going to waste my time translating gibberish no one gives two shits about.

As for the third series... eh... eh... eeeh...

  19. Really great last issue and it does seem to make sense, although I'm not sure this was planned from the beginning. I'm a bit sad that One wasn't brought back to live though, because Everett knows that he and DA were big friends and considering ED used DA for his plans it would only have been fair to activata One again.

Now I'm especially sad that it has to end here :(. Hopfully some day Banker will be so kind to provide us with the last remaining new adventures of the Duck Avenger. For now I have to say I'm really deeply gratefull, thank you, Banker, thank you very much :).
